Vanshikaa Sangal
During her studies at National Institute of Design, Gandhinagar, India-based Vanshikaa Sangal created the multiline typeface Konyaks (2018). She explains: My idea comes from the body tattoos of the Konyaks, a tribe residing in the hills of Nagaland. They were known for their headhunting customs. The typeface that I have developed uses elements of the tattoos that the Konyaks adorned and its name Noka comes from the word that etymologically means a man with pierced ears; the Konyaks were called Nakas. |
