William Howard

Designer of Basle Roman (or Howard's, Chiswick Press, London), a typeface first used in 1854. It is a Vewnetian typeface based on the romans used in Basle and Germany in the early 1500s. The matrices are now at the St. Bride Printing Library. Samples are in Jaspert's book.
