Maximilien Vox
French type designer, cartoonist, illustrator, theorist, type historian and journalist, b. Condé-sur-Noirau, 1894, d. Lurs-en-Provence, 1974. His real name was Samuel William Théodore Monod. Founder of the famous Rencontres de Lure in 1952. Creator of the Vox ATypI classification system. Influential figure in the Grafia Latina movement. Designer of Banjo (Fonderie Deberny&Peignot, 1930), Éclair (Fonderie Deberny&Peignot, 1935), Pharaon Blanc (Fonderie Deberny&Peignot, 1930) and Voxtype. Éclair was digitally revived in 2014 by Nick Curtis as Rythme NF. |
