ABOUT

Joachim Julius Siercke

Post-war German type designer (b. 1914) with the Bauersche Giesserei, who made fonts such as the connected script typeface Privat (1966) and Cantate (1958), one of the boldest fonts in the formal copperplate tradition, according to R.S. Hutchings. Cantate has lots of color variations, almost like a script version of Didot. Privat was revived in 2005 by Canada Type as Quiller.
